Swachhata League 2.0 launched in Nagaland

Kohima, September 16 (MExN): The Swachhata League 2.0 (two weeks) programme under Swachh Bharat Mission organised by Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) in collaboration with the Jakhama Baptist Fellowship, Kohima was launched on September 16.

The launching programme of the Indian Swachhta League 2.0 was graced by MLA 9th Kohima Town A/C Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhutso as special guest, stated a DIPR report.

Speaking at the program Dr Rhutso said that the Indian Swachhata League 2.0 was a movement to make Swachh Bharat a reality in India under the branch of Swachh Bharat Mission. He encouraged the students to take the opportunity to promote cleanliness.

Various activities including special numbers, dance, Violin recital and Swachh Pledge by the participants were the highlights of the programme. Vote of thanks was proposed by Administrator K.M.C T. Lanusenla L Peseyie.

Dimapur: H Tovihoto Ayemi, MLA & Advisor launched the Indian Swachhata League 2.0 and Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir at City Tower, Dimapur on Saturday morning. These two events are a part of the fortnight long annual Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) that commenced on September 15 and to be concluded on October 2.

Speaking at the launching program organised by the Dimapur Municipal Council, Tovihoto Ayemi said Dimapur, over the years, has seen a lot of improvement in terms of cleanliness but still has a lot to do to make it a garbage free city and for which every single citizen has got a role to play to desist from rampant throwing of garbage and littering the places.

The present surge of dengue cases in Dimapur, Tovihoto said, was because the surroundings are not kept clean thus giving space for dengue causing mosquitoes to breed and such diseases would continue to threaten our society even in the days to come unless the citizens inculcate the sense of responsibility towards keeping respective areas/surroundings clean and hygienic. He said we cannot solely depend on the sweepers or the DMC alone but it should be the collective responsibility of all the citizens to keep the city garbage free.

DC Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal delivered the keynote address and read out of pledge of the campaign. DMC Administrator, W Manpai Phom proposed the welcome address while Mhonjan, president, Team Better Dimapur delivered a message on the importance of cleanliness.

Wokha: The launching of Swachhata Pakhwada for Wokha Town Council (WTC) was held with Tsidi, SDO(C) as the guest speaker in the office of the Wokha Town Council on September 15. The guest speaker spoke on the importance of cleanliness and the purpose of organising the program. He stressed on the importance of awareness among the citizens of the town. Around 70 participants attended the programme. Pledge was taken by the participants. It concluded with vote of thanks by Zubenthung Jungio, HA, WTC.

Longleng: Swachhata Pakhwada was launched at public ground Longleng on September 15. Alongdhimen Jamir, NCS ADC & Administrator, LTC Longleng Team Captain, Longleng Swachhata in his keynote address urged to understand, appreciate and embrace the essences of Swachhata League. 

Yanger Jamir, SP Longleng, in his address said that the purpose of observing this Swaachata Pakhwada is to carry forward the vision of keeping our environment clean and green every day in our daily lives rather than focus on publicity. 

During the event, choreography on the theme song was performed by students of St Joseph High School Longleng and the Administration of Swachhata Pakhwada Pledge by L Chuna Phom, Brand Ambassador SBM (U) Longleng and President All Ward Union. The programme was chaired by Dr Samuel Akho Konyak P, NCS EAC Longleng and it was attended by the host of Government officials, students, Traders Union, Wards and civil organizations.
