The 18th Biennial Conference of All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) is currently underway at Fazl Ali College, the oldest college in Nagaland, where 1140 delegates from forty colleges are attending on the theme ‘Synergizing young minds’.

The Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang, who was caught off guard when the chairperson Deon Swu (ex ANCSU president), laid open the issue at the commencement of the programme.

The chief minister duly acknowledged the issue and said that there was some strict guidelines from the Union Ministry about the disbursal of scholarships because of a complaint from some quarters (or organization/s) which he declined to divulge. He said that every scholarship beneficiary should open a bank account where the money would be directly deposited as per central government’s directive. He urged the gathered students’ leaders to encourage each fellow student to open a bank account, so as to go according to the directives, the guidelines and the system. He said that if the ‘department’ don’t follow the guidelines, then the students ‘can tell him, and I will catch hold of them,’ much to the applause of the gathered students.

While dwelling on the theme of the conference, ‘synergizing young minds’, the CM said that it is indeed inspiring and most aptly chosen at a time when the Naga youths are struggling hard to find a proper direction.

He therefore said invocation of divine wisdom among the people should not be lost sight of the people since it is of paramount importance over the young people to vigorously seek wisdom in today’s world, where artificial intelligence and synthetic knowledge plays a dominant role in molding our mindset.

“It has become very difficult for all of us, especially, to put things into right perspective without the intervention of divine wisdom,” said the Chief Minister.

The CM also further said that he is into social media like facebook, whatsapp or instagram, in order to interact and gather views and suggestions for the uplift of the people.

“I am actively involved in the social media, like facebook, whatsapp, and instagram. I urge you all to join me in this initiative and be in touch with me by offering me positive and innovative views and ideas. I assure you here that I will reciprocate to all you valuable suggestions and comments,” said the Chief Minister.

Earlier, the CM also unfurled the ANCSU flag and released the souvenir book. The ANCSU president delivered the presidential address while the Convener of Organizing Committee, N Ejanthung Ngullie delivered the keynote address. NSF president, Kesosul Christopher Ltu delivered the greetings on behalf of the Naga Students’ Federation.
