Tackle illegal immigration issue with coordinated effort: CNTC

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 22 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has expressed support to the Western Sumi Hoho’s (WSH) 30 days ultimatum for bringing back the Inner Line Permit (ILP) gate to its original place.

A press note from the CNTC said that this decision of support to the ultimatum was taken with the heads and representatives of its constituent units of the Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho and Sumi Hoho. It may be noted that the WSH’s ultimatum expires on October 24.

The CNTC also resolved to support the ten point resolution of the Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (TUCT) taken on the October 5 rally.

“The issue of illegal immigrants should be tackled with coordinated efforts from all sections of the society and a noticeable coordinated effort from the government is expected in this issue to implement proper mechanisms as demanded by the civil societies. There is a genuine desire in the people to see the government do some genuine duty on this issue with a sense of obligation and responsibility for our coming generations. It cannot keep on passing the buck on the common public and civil societies and therefore the maximum and bulk of the task must be initiated and shouldered up by the state government,” the CNTC stated.

On the issue of holding indigenous trade and commercial vehicle licenses by illegal immigrants, the CNTC demanded that the state government direct all its agencies to check on this malpractice and to cancel them immediately. With the issue of the unabated illegal immigrants posing a grave threat on our social security and demography, every Nagas must wake up and no longer remain a passive and silent spectator, it said.

“Any responsible elected government or an accountable representative should have a strong political will without any fear or favour,” the CNTC viewed.
