Tamei Sub-division VACC, CSOs appeal general public

Newmai News Network IMPHAL | OCTOBER 23   The Village Authority Chairman Council (VACC) of Tamei sub-division and civil society organizations have fervently ‘appealed’ the general public of ‘Tamei area’ not to lodge complaints or condemn the government or government officials who are working hard to ease the hardship of the people in the area.   This statement has come at the backdrop of an issue between Tamah Students’ Union (TSU) and the Tamei organizations on the installation of a State Bank of India (SBI) branch at Tamei headquarters.   The government has constructed a bank building at Tamah village near Tamei sub divisional headquarters but certain facilities including security issue are yet to be met.   The government is said to have admitted its inability to meet all the facilities of the bank, particularly the security issue, at the moment at Tamah village.   However, it assured to make it functional by meeting all the needed facilities as soon as possible.   The statement issued by Adin Abonmai, VACC Tamei sub-division, then ‘requested’ the State Government of Manipur and the bank authority not to get discouraged by campaigns and lobbies of “some vested interest elements” who are all out to disturb the development works in sub-division.   It further asserted that the Council and general public of Tamei area will “face elements who indulge in activities which are against the progress of Tamei area.
