Two teams – one from Tamlu and the other from Chozuba Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Block have been awarded the Poshan Abhiyaan’s 208-19 AAAA & LS Convergence Award for Nagaland.


The teams were awarded during the’ Incentive Based Awards Ceremony at National Level’ organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi, on August 23.


The AAAA & LS Convergence Awards are given to ground level functionaries - Anganwadi Worker (AWW), Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA), Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), and  Anganwadi Helper (AWH) collectedly denoted as ‘AAAA’ and Lady Supervisor (LS), who have  who have been instrumental in synergising their efforts through various activities like counselling during home visits.


A total of 65 set of AAAA&LS, two for each states, are awarded from across the country at the National Level in Delhi, according to a Ministry of Women and Child Development guidelines. 


The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 2.5 lakh and citation. The Rastriya Poshan Abhiyaan, Nagaland shared the information in an update on its Twitter handle on August 23 but details regarding the teams were not given. 


Poshan Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission launched by Government of India with the vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022. The flagship programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 8, 2018.


The objective of POSHAN Abhiyaan to reduce stunting in identified Districts of India with the highest malnutrition burden by improving utilization of key Anganwadi Services and improving the quality of Anganwadi Services delivery. 


Ensuring holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children is also an stated objective. 


The MWCD is implementing Poshan Abhiyaan in 315 Districts in first year, 235 Districts in second year and remaining districts will be covered in the third year.
