TechAura- technical festival 2017 begins

The annual TechAura – a technical festival organized by School of Engineering and Technology (SET) – NU began on Wednesday at its campus near DC Court junction Dimapur.  

The chief guest, Colo Mero, Director, Life Sports called for skilled and trained students besides acquiring academic degrees. According to Mero, the students were living in an era where certificate alone was not a criterion to land them a job but their skills in a certain profession was the main criteria.  

“You are going to graduate in that kind of society where the strongest will survive,” he added.  

Noting that there were so many arguments in the social media over various subjects which leads from virtual to actual fighting, Mero said Nagas were too small a people to be fighting among themselves. “It is time to put an end to all these infighting and endless negativity and the future depends on the youngsters who should lead the society to live in peace in spite of diversity,” he added.  

Talking about unemployment, Mero asserted that no truly educated person could be unemployed if people put their thinking into the right perspective and strive to be innovative.  

He urged the technical students to not only showcase their skills and talents only for a day but put it into practice in their daily lives.  

Prof. S.K. Sharma, Dean, SET-NU said that the aim of TechAura was to motivate the students to think out of the box and showcase their talents. He urged the students to derive maximum benefit out of the annual technical festival.  

During the programme, the students showcased traditional attires of various states of the northeast. The TechAura will culminate on November 4.
