TGOUN officials and faculty visit Seychelles

Victoria (Seychelles), June 9 (MExN): Based on the formal invitation extended by the Government of Seychelles owned Seychelles Tourism Academy, The Global Open University Nagaland (TGOUN) officials and faculty reached Seychelles on June 5 on a four-day goodwill mission.  

They attended different meetings with officials in the national level institutions with a view to exchange information, faculty, students, appropriate technologies as well as services in order to strengthen ties between India and Seychelles. 

The team comprised of Dr. HN Dutta, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Imotemsu Ao, Registrar-cum-Director, Alemjungla Jamir, Faculty-in-Charge, Department of Hotel Management, Shah Alom, Faculty Member, Department of Catering Technology, Imkong Yanger, Project Officer, Nchum Ovung, Public Relations Officer  

A press release issued by the India-Seychelles Friendship Society informed that the Seychelles Tourism Academy has resolved to send a delegation of officials from Seychelles to Nagaland to observe the theoretical and practical training programmes at TGOUN for ensuring exchange of students on a reciprocal basis with minimum 10 seats to be reserved for students from Seychelles to undergo Bachelor’s and Master’s level courses in tourism, travel, hotel and hospitality management. The delegation will include faculty members dealing with Hotel Management, Wellness and Spa besides the Director of Seychelles Institute of Art and Design.  

During the meetings in Seychelles, Nchum Ovung, PRO and Alemjungla Jamir, representing the Department of Hotel Management presented a PowerPoint on the unique method of providing instructions to the students undergoing different short-term and long-term training programmes at TGOUN.  

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Dr. HN Dutta appreciated the provisions of the MoU signed and the proposals initiated by the Seychelles Tourism Academy for enabling them to send their students to Nagaland under the twining programme of Seychelles Tourism Academy and The Global Open University Nagaland to study Diploma courses in Seychelles and finally complete the degree courses in Nagaland for optimizing the investment made by the Government of Seychelles, the release added.  

The Registrar-cum-Director Dr. Imotemsu Ao presented the action plan and futuristic vision document before the officials of the Government of Seychelles for a joint venture international educational project. He proposed optimal support of TGOUN for giving birth to an international examining and assessment authority in Seychelles for evaluating the knowledge of the students undergoing hotel, hospitality, travel and tourism related courses from different countries of the world, according to the press release.  

The TGOUN delegation left for India on June 9 morning.
