Kohima, June 1 (MExN): The Youth of Lower Forest Colony Kohima, under the initiative of Chubarenla Longchari, DYRO Kohima along with the help of the Lower Forest Youth Organization came together to kick-start a campaign called “The Green Tribe.”

As per a DIPR release, the Campaign was formally launched on June 1 at Lower Forest Colony Community Hall.

The main objective of the campaign “is to not just spread awareness among the youth but most importantly to get the young generation to actively participate in protecting and preserving our nature.”

The campaign is the brainchild of Chubarenla Longchari, DYRO Kohima a resident of Lower Forest Colony who is a strong advocate of taking ownership of surroundings and taking responsibility in preserving and protecting the eco system, the release added.

In her speech, Longchari called upon the youths to come together as responsible citizens to actively make efforts in preserving and protecting our environment. She encouraged the youth to stop blaming the government “for all our problems but rather take charge and ensure that we as concerned citizens set aside all our differences and come together as one tribe, ‘The Green Tribe,’ and actively work towards a greener and cleaner Nagaland.”

The Campaign seeks to conserve nature by planting more fruit bearing trees in and around the colony.

The Gaonbura of Lower Forest Colony expressed his gratitude to Longchari and the colony youth for starting such a noble initiative and hoped that through such an endeavor, the whole community would benefit greatly in the days to come.

The programme concluded with the planting of fruit trees which was donated by the Kohima District Horticulture Officer.
