It was a sea of humanity as more than ten thousand believers packed the venue at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex and also at the galleries on the opening night of the mega revival programme ‘Aoli Asentenshi’ organized by the Ao Baptist Church Council (ABAM) here this evening.

The three day revival programme which is being held on the theme ‘Revive us, O Lord’ considered as the biggest revival programmes for the Ao tribes which is being held for a great revival in the church, the society, family, and the governing system. This revival programme is mainly about admitting the past mistakes, of repentance, of turning back to God for His blessings and guidance.

The first night witnessed the ABAM President, Rev Dr Noklen elucidated on why an ‘Aoli Asentenshi’ was necessary. He said that the Ao society today is going through a dark phase because the people have forgotten their God and His love today. He said that it is not only the failure of the church but all the believers who have failed the Ao community by forgetting their Lord. The ABAM President said that the Aos today are like ‘the prodigal son’ returning to his father after roaming in the wilderness for many years. He therefore reminded that if the Aos repent from the bottom of their hearts and turn towards God then surely the Almighty God would once again show His mercies and shower His blessings upon the people and the land.

The main speaker of the night, Dimpaur Ao Baptist Church (DABA) Associate Pastor Rev Maong, spoke on the topic ‘Revival of the Church’, and said that if the believers repent, pray for forgiveness, turn away from evil and humble themselves, then the Almighty Lord would hear their prayers and bless them.

Speaking about the church, Rev Maong said that the church is something established by God to make the people come to come to light out of darkness. He also said we did not chose God but the Lord chose us, and He chose us for a reason – to bear fruit, to testify His name, to save the lost souls and to do His works. The Reverend said that the Aos and the believers were chosen by God with a vision to testify his name. However, he said that the Ao community is slowly forgetting the blessings and love of God today, with the churches becoming more empty with less believers, with more focus on wealth, and a broken relationship with God.

Therefore, Rev Maong strongly called the congregation to humble oneself, admit and one’s sins and turn from evil. He said that if one (or the church) can do that, then the Almighty God will hear the prayers from the Heavens and ignite the fire of revival in the churches. Meanwhile, the programme was chaired by Rev Sangyula (Associate pastor) while the Sungkomen Baptist Church Choir presented a special song.
