Rajya Sabha MP, K.G. Kenye today launched a mass signature campaign on ‘Towards Greener Phek district’ under Swachh Bharat on day two of Sükrünye Mini Hornbill Festival at Phek Town.

Kenye, MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, Phek DC Orenthung Lotha, Chakhesang Public Organization president Mikha Kenye and several others appended signature on “I choose to reuse and say no to plastic.”

In an effort towards a greener and safer environment, the Phek Town Council became one of the first urban local bodies to ban 'Single use plastic' in 2017.

The Government of Nagaland had also issued a notification on ban of single use plastic including water bottle and styrofoam products in December 2018.

In a move towards strengthening the effort towards a healthier and cleaner environment, a mass signature campaign has been organised during Sükrünye by the district administration and Phek Town Council.

This campaign urged all the people of Phek district to pledge against the use of plastic and join hand to protect environment.
