Traffic violations & offences to be strictly dealt with

Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): In pursuance of the directive of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety and in the interest and safety of the public, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Road Safety Committee, Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol in a notification informed that the traffic violations and offences regarding helmets, seatbelt, mobile phones, dangerous driving etc will be strictly dealt with. The enforcing agencies are directed to impound Driving Licences of violators and the same to be forwarded to the concerned licencing authority for necessary action.


It is also mentioned that owners of school buses including school own managed operated transport buses and three wheelers are informed that overloading, other than the prescribed carrying capacity mentioned in the registration certificate permit shall be prohibited and appropriate action will be initiated against all defaulters.


The owners of the vehicles are also informed to prominently display the seating capacity of the vehicle in such a manner that it is clearly visible to all the passengers.


It also informed the school authorities to actively involve to ensure that under-aged students do not drive motorized vehicles to reach the school and to take appropriate action under the law against the owners who allow their vehicles to be driven by under-aged students.
