Training on Jhum field management, IPM in soybean

Mokokchung, July 8 (MExN): ATMA Ongpangkong (North) Block, Mokokchung in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Mokokchung organized a one day training on Jhum field management and IPM (integrated pest management) in soybean under NMOOP-MMI at Kupza village on July 4.  

Resource person Dr. Lanunochetla, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) from the district Agriculture department spoke to the farmers on the occurrence of pests and diseases in jhum field and its organic management. She also highlighted the ill practices of farming like usage of DDT, salt and pesticides in Jhum which result in resurgence of new pests, and their effects on human health.  

Integrated pest management in soybean, vegetables and orchards were thoroughly discussed, a press release stated. Inputs like soybean, knapsack sprayer, agrilime, roban, and neem oil were distributed for free to the participants.
