Training on production technology on Lemon

Mon, October 13 (DIPR): Training on production technology on Lemon under RKVY project was held on October 13 at District Horticulture Office (DHO), Mon.  

District Horticulture Officer, Y. Bongti Konyak who chaired the programme, welcomed the beneficiaries and said they were selected for the training with the hope that they were responsible individuals. He added that they were to impart and disseminate their learning with their fellow farmers in their respective villages.  

Assistant Horticulture Officer, Mon, Hamkai Konyak sharing his experience lamented that many people were misusing various projects by taking the saplings just for the sake of availing subsidies, without actually planting them. He urged the beneficiaries attending the training to be sincere and attentive in the training and properly utilize the projects extended by the government, so that the projects may serve its purpose, by generating source of income to the beneficiaries/farmers. Citing the problem of staff shortage, he urged the beneficiaries to cooperate with the department by disseminating whatever they learnt, and seriously take up the projects/ plantations.  

The trainees were taught on cultivation practices: like spacing, land preparation, pest and diseases, postharvest management, rejuvenation and crop canopy management. The resource persons were HEA, Mon, Shikmeth Konyak and HEA, Mon, Bonchung.
