Training on RTI held for PIOs, APIOs, NGOs, institutions

Wokha, August 30 (DIPR): Training on RTI Act, 2005 was held for PIOs, APIOs, NGOs and academic institutions in Wokha on August 30 at Deputy Commissioner’s Hall here. The resource persons for the training were Dr. Zumomo Ovung, Associate Professor, Mt. Tiyi College Wokha, EAC Wokha, Tsutsowe Kupa, and EAC Changpang, Bodi Kapfo.  

The training, sponsored by Ministry of Personnel and Public Grievances and Pension, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), New Delhi, was attended by more than 90 participants from different departments, NGOs and educational institutions.  

SDO (C) Wokha, Asalie Lese, while giving the inaugural address said that RTI is about empowering the citizens and to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority and good governance. He called upon the participants to be sincere and try to get maximum benefit out of the training.

The resource persons dwelled on topics like General overview of RTI Act 2005 and concept of RTI, Obligation of Public Authorities, Role of PIOs and APIOs, Information Commission Appeals & Penalties. The training also presented documentary videos and case studies.
