Training on ‘Transforming the skill landscape’ at Mon

Mon, October 10 (DIPR): The ‘Homestay’ training, organized by Youth Net, in collaboration with I Love My Mon Town (ILMMT) and Alder Tours and Travels under National Skill Development Corporation ‘Transforming the skill landscape’ began on October 10 at District Executive Hall, DC office complex, with a short inaugural programme.  

Speaking in the inaugural programme, Yanithung N. Ngullie EAC, Mon HQ said that, Mon is one of the important districts for tourist destination due to the rich cultural and traditional value of Konyaks. Therefore, such training is the need of the hour, as it will not only to serve the tourist but also solve unemployment problems.  

Stating that Nagas’ being known for their hospitality, ‘home stay’ is not a new concept or thing but we need to polish what we know, he added.  

Informing that many trainees in Nagaland attend training just for the sake of getting allowances and remunerations, he advised the trainees to be attentive and complete the full course and obtain the certificate of National Skill Development Corporation so that they can make a future for themselves.  

Neingusel Luho, Youth Net, while delivering short speech, emphasized on the Home Stay training and said that thought Mon is a tourist destination it lacks good hotel for the tourist. Therefore if the local people are trained and start home stay it will be beneficial for both tourist as well as the individual local.  

Kejaroko Pieru, Alder Tour & Travel while giving introductory of the training said that home stay training is first of its kind in Nagaland. Speaking of experience he said that the foreign tourist love to get firsthand experience by practically involving in everything that the locals do. But such opportunity can be offered only when we are trained and prepared to let the tourist stays in our home.  

He further stated that such opportunity will not only be a source of income generating business but will let you meet different people of the world .  

During the course of the training, the trainees will be taught on - basic of Tourism, Tourist and homestay, Marketing homestay, creating homestay and relevant system, safety and health, communication skills, basic of computer, handling different types of social media, option of finance, budgeting & finance, entrepreneurship and soft skills, F&B services, cleanliness and hygiene, housekeeping service and Customer service. Altogether 30 trainees have been selected out of hundred applicants.  

The programme was chaired by T. Chingmei Konyak, Member ILMMT. Welcome address was given by Dr. Chenjei Konyak Member ILMMT.
