Training on vermicomposting held at St Xavier College
Students with resource persons and college faculty after the three-day programme held at St Xavier College in Jalukie.
Peren, November 18 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren district organized a three-day training programme and Front Line Demonstration from November 14 – 16 in Vermicomposting to students of St Xavier College in Jalukie.
During the training programme, resource persons Z James Kikon (ACTO, Soil Sc) trained the students on the different steps and method involved in vermicomposting and demonstrated the preparation of portable Vermibed in the college premises.
Dr Patu Khate Zeliang (ACTO, GPB) gave a power point presentation on ‘Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers Rights Act,’ its objectives, functions and registration process and motivated the students to be ambassadors of Biodiversity conservation of their respective villages.
Dr L Babita Devi (ACTO, Animal Science) also exhorted the students about the importance of Animal Husbandry in Integrated Farming System and Vermicomposting. Fr Francis, Principal of St Xavier College appreciated the KVK Peren staff for conducting skill training to the students and advised the students to learn and upgrade their skills in the field of Agriculture which may help them in the near future. Altogether 22 students attended the programme.
