The 4th edition of the Master Shield Trophy 2020 organized by the Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation culminated here today with Trebuchet Cricket Club lifting the trophy after denying last edition’s champions Vincent Cricket Club their second straight title.
Vincent posted a total score of 130 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Trebuchet batsmen in reply crossed the line in the 19th over with 6 wickets intact riding on their man of the match batsman Manoj Kumar’s knock of 36 runs not out off just 20 balls. Vikas Sah also contributed 36 runs for Trebuchet while Chubaodang remained not out with 18 runs to his name off 13 balls to see his team through. Imliwati struck twice while Sunil also picked a wicket for Vincent but Trebuchet managed to win the match with 11 balls to spare.
Earlier, Vincent batters with a deep batting lineup looked ready to pose an asking total but Trebuchet bowlers tightened the screws led by their strike bowler Imnayanger who scalped 3 wickets from his 4 overs that included a maiden over. Anoksangba also picked a wicket for Trebuchet. Vijay with 25 runs, Imliwati with 30 runs and Santosh with 22 runs not out were the leading scorers for Vincent.
The Man of the Match for the final game went to Manoj Kumar of Trebuchet. Imcharen of Skylark CC was declared the Best Bowler of the Tournament for his haul of 12 wickets while Vijay of Vincent CC was declared the Best Batsman of the Tournament. Vedant Pandey of Trebuchet CC was Declared the Player of the Tournament while Moalong of Züngamedem CC was declared the Most Promising Player.
An exhibition match between the organizers MDT20CF and Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem was played before the final match between Trebuchet CC and Vincent CC, which was won by the organizers by 5 wickets.
