Trinity Sporting wins Case Premier League

DIMAPUR, APRIL 1 (MExN): Trinity Sporting emerged as the champions of the inaugural Case Premier League which came to a close today at the Police Ground, Chumukedima.   Needing a win, Trinity edged STAFAC United Patkai by a solitary goal to finish top of the table with 16 points. Nungsang scored in the first half of the match as a nervous Trinity held on for precious three points.   Earlier in the first match, Nizams FC defeated Case FC 2-0. Aloto Yeptho and Atsen Murry both scored in the second half as Nizams broke their run of three consecutive defeats.   Dr. Lipok, who was the tournament's top scorer, should have pulled one back late in the second half after being awarded a penalty but his effort struck the woodwork before going out of play.   With the win, Nizams finished third on the table with 11 points. HHH, with 15 points, finished second. STAFAC United remained on 8 points while Case FC finished with 5 points.   The inaugural edition of the Case Premier league kicked off in early February at Patkai Christian College ground with five teams – Case FC, Nizams FC, STAFAC United Patkai, Trinity FC and HHH.   Under the theme “Beyond Friendship, Beyond Fitness and Beyond Football”, the unregistered football league was started with the sole aim of promoting fitness and friendship through football for non professionals above 30 years of age.   Organisers of the league expressed gratitude to the sponsors - Case Constructions Dimapur and to 1st NAP for providing the ground.
