The Department of Youth Resources & Sports today organized a felicitation programme for the state Taekwondo team from IG Stadium Sports Academy Kohima who won 14 medals (10 gold, one silver and 3 bronze medal) during the recently concluded 3rd Kukkiwon India International Championship held in New Delhi.
Four nations- India, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bhutan took part in this Championship.
Addressing the function here at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima, Youth Resources & Sports secretary Lhouchalie Viya congratulated the team for bringing laurel to the state.
He acknowledged the coach for nurturing the students to bring medals to the state.
He also conveyed the congratulatory message which the Chief Minister of Nagaland has tweeted for winning 14 medals.
He also reminded the student in the Sports Academy to follow strict discipline.
Youth resources & sports director Akumla Chuba congratulated the team and appreciate the coach for taking care of the students and bringing laurel to the state.
She announced that the department will henceforth focus on improvement of the facilities of the Sports Academy.
It may be mentioned that Taekwondo team belonging to IG Stadium Sports Academy Kohima representing the state participated at the championship held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi from June 5 to 7 last.
20 players participated in the championship led by team coach Visabiu Peseyie, state Taekwondo coach and Sangtsuthung Ngullie as manager.
