Tuensang, June 13 (MExN): Tsarü Baptist Church is celebrating 100 years of Christianity from June 12 to 14.
Speaking at the inaugural programme on the topic, ‘Jesus the light of the community’, Rev. C. Lima, Executive Secretary, United Sangtam Baptist Churches Association urged the believers to live as matured Christians, be agents of change and continue to provide selfless service for the greater cause and be the light to the neighboring communities.
Commemorating the event, 5 candles have been lit by the grand children of 5 pioneers who brought the Gospel to the village as a symbol of bringing light into the community, informed a press release.
Rev. Dr. Takatemjen, great grandson of Pangeryangla from Aonokpu whose ministry resulted in reaching the gospel to Tsarü, challenged the community to “live in deeds not in years, and to retrospect one’s contribution to the community.”
Chumpongse Sangtam, Principal, OTC Yangli speaking on ‘Jesus the light of the Family’ said darkness signifies backwardness, exposes the weaknesses of the family. “We should let go of our past glory and start afresh with Christ; it is the only source of light able to guide the family through eternity,” he added.
In the inaugural programme, Thripongse, Head Barrick Tsarü and T. Lima, pastor, Chuchuyimlang Baptist Arogo extended greetings and Rev. Dr. Yanger, convener, Planning Committee proposed vote of thanks.
