TSU lament poor state of government schools

Kiphire, August 10 (MExN): Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU) undertook an educational tour in two phases which completed on August 8.

During the tour, the Union found that most of the schools are running without proper teachers. It reported that GHS Anatongre does not have a headmaster or AHM, which according to the Union is the cause for poor HSLC results. TSU President S. Longkamse, Advisor M. Jongyanthong, and General Secretary Temong Y Tikhir in a press release said that all the schools under Tikhir villages are facing shortage of science and math teachers.

There are also cases where teachers have not attended the school right from the days of their appointments. “Some are said to be in B.Ed training, but without proper training order. Those defaulters must admit themselves with proper order to the respective VECs/HTs immediately to avoid further inconveniences,” the Union stated.

In some schools, two different classes clubs together in a single room due to lack of classrooms. GMS Wapher Village with total students of 175 (classes A-7) does not have a single graduate teacher, it stated while blaming the department concerned for its lackadaisical attitude towards infrastructural development under the jurisdiction. TSU further directs those teachers who are not in a station to join their duties immediately.

In Shamator ADC Hq., it was reported that no administrative heads were posted in the station since the latest reshuffling of officers. Therefore, TSU appeal to the authority concerned to post the officers immediately to redress the grievances of the public.

It also appeals to the department concerned to look into the matter as genuine and take necessary arrangements immediately.
