On Tsungremmong, Governor wishes for peace, unity

Kohima, July 31 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, PB Acharya has extended greetings to the Ao community on the occasion of Tsungremmong festival 2017. The festival, he said, marks the end of rigorous plantation besides nursing the paddy fields and called on the Aos to take time and thank Almighty for his unwavering love and blessing.

Acharya also reminded the community to thank the farmers for their hard work, according to a press release from the PRO to the Governor. He said that the Central and State Governments have welfare projects for farmers such as soil testing, Kisan credit card, National Food Security Mission etc to help in production and productivity.

“It should be our responsibility that these welfare projects are made known to them and motivate them to avail the services for their benefit,” the Governor stated.

Acharya further opined that Tsungremmong should provide opportunities for budding generations and other villagers to display their skills and physical strength. He added the festival should be a source for building unity and urged all to come together and make the atmosphere conducive in towns and villages for peaceful co-existence and all round development in the State. He also encouraged the Aos to safeguard and promote their rich culture and traditions through the festival.

“May the festival of Tsungremmong bring peace, unity and prosperity to the Aos in particular and Nagas in general,” he wished.
