Tuensang DLSA organizes orientation programme

Tuensang, February 10 (DIPR): Tuensang District Legal Service Authority organized orientation programme for the penal lawyer and para legal volunteers on the New Nagaland State Legal Services Authority scheme at the DC’s Conference Hall, Tuensang on February 10.  

Member Secretary NSLSA, Nino Iralu who is the Special Judge/TDP, Vigilance Commission, highlighted on the seven new schemes of the NSLSA emphasizing on victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation; child friendly legal services and their protection scheme; mentally ill and mentally disabled persons; poverty alleviation scheme; protection and enforcement of tribal rights; legal services to the victim of drug abuse; eradication of drug menace etc.   She stated that the schemes should be translated into the local context and penal lawyer and para legal volunteers need to work as a bridge between the deserving common people and the concerned department. She also detailed the importance of Lok Adalak for the people mentioning that NSLSA action plan 2016-17 is for legal awareness to all the children in the school. She encouraged the penal lawyers and the PLV to work hard for the people.   Sharings on legal awareness and court cases etc were done by penal lawyer, Yimtsusangla and para legal volunteers from Sangtam area, Khiamniungan and Chang areas.   Legal Aid Council DLSA Tuensang, Cheliam Khiam chaired the programme and DLSA Chairman Khape Koza gave a brief introductory speech. The programme was attended by the Administration/Police officers, DBs, Social Welfare department etc along with the PLV and penal lawyers.
