Two-day NPCC workers’ leadership prog concludes

‘Leaders produce outcomes and solve problems rather than complain’

Kohima, March 12 (MExN): NPCC President K Therie today urged the party workers to develop leadership qualities and work in team to achieve the common goals. Speaking on ‘Capacity Building’ at the concluding day of the two-day ‘NPCC Workers Leadership Training Programme’ at Congress Bhavan here, Therie further stated that leaders produce outcomes and solve problems rather than complain.

According to a press release from Media Cell, NPCC, Therie also urged for efficiency at all levels of organization and to set common goals to bring change for a better future. Making a presentation on ‘Economy of the State’, Therie said, “We have to wake up from slumber to an active life and say no to bribes and expect monthly returns from welfare schemes and other employment and business avenues and opportunities.” He said that there is a need for each family to secure its income and make its budget and spend accordingly.

Urging the younger generations to learn from the business community, Therie said, the youth have an important role to play in providing the workforce both in production and marketing. He called on the Government to actively promote agricultural and horticultural products which are doing well in the state and added that there is a need to stimulate investment in the state. He further said investment can only be expected if safety and security are assured. “We have to create a conducive situation to enable economic growth. It is in everybody’s interest that we must together grow peace in our respective hearts and contribute that peace to the society, state, nation and economy,” Therie asserted.

Earlier, BS Shekhawat, former Secretary, NPCC presented on ‘Creating People’s Bank’ and ‘Managing Constituency’ and urged for a participatory approach in taking the people to the destination by directly communicating and coordinating with the people and in the process creating competencies. He said that the bottom-up approach is most advisable given the high literacy rate and the increased levels of public awareness. Stating that the people are the power, the party and the possibility, he encouraged the party workers to enthuse, enable and empower the people through their interactions. Shekhawat further maintained that politics is a noble profession if performed with utmost dedication, absolute honesty and concern for the welfare of the people, and not for achieving individual political objectives.

Other speakers at the two-day training included P. Leonard Aier, Principal, Dimapur Law College, Khriedi Theunuo, NPCC Vice President, Ayang Aonok, NPCC Working President, Capt. GK Zhimomi, Chairman, Media Cell, NPCC, and Takamasa, former MLA.
