Dimapur, January 20 (MExN): Dimapur Police have arrested two NSCN (IM) cadres on charges of abduction.
A press release from Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur informed that on January 19 around 2:00 pm, East Police Station received information that a businessman was abducted from his shop at MP Road, Dimapur by some unknown miscreants.
It was revealed during verification at the spot that one Subash Kumar Jain (45), proprietor of Amar Agency (garment shop) was missing from his shop around 12:30 pm and no one could provide any information about the victim or miscreants, it said.
Later, the police identified a suspected vehicle B/Regd. No. AS01-9353 (Maruti Swift) through CCTV footage in few locations.
At around 5:00 pm, the vehicle was intercepted near Aoyimiti village junction along with the two NSCN (IM) cadres identified as Toki Achumi (23), Rajapeyu and Khetoho Jakhalu (23), Khapur. The two accused were arrested and produced at East Police Station along with the seized vehicle.
According to the press release, the arrested accused revealed that they had already released the victim in Purana Bazar area and “voluntarily accepted their involvement in the crime.”
In this connection, a case has been registered at East PS and further investigation is on, the release stated.
