In line with nationwide U-DISE exercise, Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Rovilatuo Mor today impressed upon the head of institutions that the District Administration and District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) Kohima will take serious note of institutions failing to provide accurate information.

U-DISE (Unified District Information System for Education) is a database of information about schools in India. The database was developed at the National University for Educational Planning and Administration.

Mor said collection or compilation of data is very important and anyone tasked for the job must give due importance as it reflects the planning process.

He cited an instance that as per 2011 census, the population of Kohima was reflected little less than 1 lakh. This resulted in Kohima ineligible for central grants or other central schemes as per the criteria of the population figure.

He said many residents in the State capital Kohima belonging to other villages of other tribes opt to register in their home districts, which is how the population came down below 1 lakh as per 2011 census.

Mor said when actual figure is not properly projected, there will be always gap to meet the actual requirements. In this, he said furnishing of the basic data on students’ enrolment is necessitated in the planning process. He stated that complete and accurate data is essential for any follow up, effective planning and evaluation for overall development of students.

He also said the ongoing exercise will also reflect the fate of scholarship, special grant, stipend and other infrastructure like computer education, and whosever fail to figure in U-DISE exercise will be deprived of all such facilities.

“It is mandatory for all institutions to provide accurate and clear data on U-DISE exercise,” he said.

Speaking at the celebration of U-DISE Day-cum-sensitization on implementation of student data collection in-sync with U-DISE 2016-17 at Ura Academy Hall here, Mor, who is also chairman DMA, SSA Kohima, said that the observance of U-DISE was an important and significant national event which is being observed across the country.

He stressed on the important area of furnishing correct and genuine students’ statistic data of the State through which the Government aids and funding shall be taken up in the coming days.

The DC stated that U-DISE exercise is mandatory with direct instruction from the Ministry of Human Resource Development to various universities and boards to provide required data information as mentioned in the prescribed format.

He impressed upon all the head of institutions to take the exercise seriously and furnish the accurate data within the time frame fixed by the District Mission Authority in order to submit the data to the Ministry without delay.

Deputy District Education Officer, i/c District Project Co-coordinator, DMA, SSA Kohima, Neizetuonuo stated the U-DISE exercise is database information of the school level statistic which would be used in monitoring the Government flagship programmes.

She said that it is a principal tool for measuring progress of the school, to plan inputs for preparation of work planning and programmes and further requested the head of educational institutions to give efforts and present realistic data of their respective schools.

Data formats were given to all the schools today and the filled up formats by the schools will be submit to the respective educational and block resource centres. The government schools are to submit on or before October 15 and the private schools on or before October 28.
