The University Grants Commission and the All India Council for Technical Education, on March 20, released on its website a list of 23 fake universities and 279 fake technical institutes across India. Delhi tops the list with 66 fake colleges while Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra also have a huge number of such institutes. According to the UGC, these institutes don't have the authority to grant degrees without its permission. List of fake universities by UGC:
