‘Understanding GST from Nagaland Perspective’

Kohima, August 9 (MExN): The Department of Economics, Alder College organised a talk on ‘Understanding GST from Nagaland Perspective’ with the Department of Taxes, Government of Nagaland on August 9 at Dr. Setu Memorial Hall.   Kholi Lohrii HOD, Economics Dept Alder College delivered the welcome note and presented the keynote address. The resource person Sentila Sanglir, Inspector of Taxes, Dept of Taxes detailed the subsumption of taxes under the GST regime. She presented a detailed account on the applicability and benefits of the new tax regime. The main features of GST were enumerated and its impact on Nagaland highlighted.  

The doubts of the students pertaining to how the GST can root out black money; why GST is not levied on tobacco and liquor; why GST on exports are zero and the questions regarding implementation and the effects of it were clarified by Merenkaba, Inspector of Taxes, Vizayie Kar, Inspector of Taxes, Zuthungbemo Ovung, Inspector of Taxes all from the Dept of Taxes, Govt of Nagaland.
