It was attended by Dr. Vikato Kinimi (CMO), Dr. Antoly Swu (DCMO), Dr. Lanuakum (DPOUIP-RCH), District Programme Manager, District Vaccine Store Manager and Cold Chain Handler of District Hospital Dimapur along with UNDP State Officials.
The meeting consisted of power point presentations by Imli Longkumer, Project Officer UNDP, VCCMs of Dimapur, Peren and Wokha to assess the status and activities of each district for the last quarter (June-August 2017), followed by discussion on issues and recommendations to improve cold chain management and UIP. Also, new developments and features related to eVIN and Temperature Loggers were shared with the officials by Kingson Kamkara, Senior Project Officer UNDP and the team.
A press release received here stated that with eVIN playing a significant role in ensuring delivery of sensitive vaccines in the right quantity, right quality, right time, right temperature and right place to the right beneficiaries; Nagaland has been fortunate to have been included in the pilot phase. Five countries (Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Thailand) have already shown interest in replicating eVIN’s success to strengthen their capacities too and scale up their own immunization programmes.
UNDP has been working with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in establishing an electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) system to improve vaccine and cold chain logistics management across all Cold Chain Points (CCP) in Nagaland since 2016. Real-time visibility of vaccine stock and flow became visible on September 20, 2016 and thereafter, storage temperature was also made visible on May 20, 2017 across all CCPs in Nagaland.
To effectively implement eVIN, dedicated Vaccine and Cold Chain Manager (VCCM) have been assigned for all 11 districts of Nagaland who are co-ordinating and working with the District Program Officers of each district under GOI’s Universal Immunisation Programme.
