Dimapur, January 21 (MExN): The Directorate of Employment, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship in partnership with Emporium Skills Training Institute conducted a skills and job orientation programme St John College, Dimapur on January 21.

A press release received here stated that the programme began with opening remarks by the principal of the college, Prof ST Janetius, who felicitated Anirban Mukherjee, Operations Head of the same functionary under Ministry of Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

Anirban delivered a short speech detailing employment statistics in Nagaland which is “at alarming rate as thousands of graduates each year become unemployed because of poor skill and job awareness.”

He also added that ‘Emporium Skills Training Institute’ has collaborated with the Government of Nagaland for years in training and recruitment of youths in the state, and this program was a routine to help the fresh students and unemployed youths equip themselves with job skills in a rat-race competitive world.

The main objective of the orientation was to inform the students about the skill development projects aided by the government. He informed that should students join, programs include a compulsory three-month course of training, while placements simultaneously occur in aviation, hospitality and cruiseline management. He also urged the students to pursue the good opportunity of being professionals with a lucrative salary and adventure rather than settling only for government jobs.

The agency is currently reaching out to colleges and higher secondary schools in Nagaland focusing mainly on the final year students who will soon graduate and enter the job market.
