Dimapur, June 6 (MExN): A body of an unidentified, non-Naga male aged around 50 years was found at Rail Bazaar area, Dimapur on June 5 around 3:00 pm. According to a press release from PRO, Dimapur Police, the man is suspected to have died of illness/starvation.
“Accordingly, all necessary formalities were conducted in the presence of witnesses. No any foul play was found,” it stated. The dead body was shifted to Dimapur District Hospital morgue for post mortem examination and further identification.
The release further said the deceased was a beggar who had been begging for the last many years in Marwaripatti/Railway Bazar area, Dimapur. He was found wearing denim half-pants, a brown striped shirt and bore a black mole near the nose, it added.
Meanwhile, on June 5 around 11:20 am, Dimapur Police arrested one person identified as Aghato Awomi (29) for extortion. Hard cash amounting to Rs. 37,400/- and some pieces of paper, in which name of shops and also the amounts paid by the shopkeepers were recorded, were recovered from his possession, the release stated. In this connection, a case has been registered at Sub-Urban Police Station for further investigation.
Team of Sub-Urban Police Station along with the District Anti-tobacco Squad on June 5 conducted enforcement in Sub-Urban Police Station jurisdiction, with regard to cigarettes and other tobacco products being sold within and in close proximity to educational institutions. The team recovered/seized different tobacco products, according to the PRO.
