Vacate public occupied areas, Wokha village orgs appeal to NPGs

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 21 (MExN): The Wokha Village Council and New Wokha Village Council along with other community-based organizations on Monday urged the Naga Political Groups (NPG) and the Army/paramilitary force to maintain tranquility in the village area. In a joint statement, the two village councils along with Wokha Village Eloe Ekhung (WVEE), Wokha Village Youth Organization (WVYO) and Wokha Village Students’ Union (WVSU) made the appeal for restraint, “in time as this, when all Nagas are yearning for peace and permanent solution to the vexed Naga political issue.” According to the contents of the joint statement, the appeal comes in view of the presence of an armed NPG reported in the vicinity of Wokha Village, which has led to tension in the area.  It also appealed the NPGs to vacate the vicinity of public occupied area of the Wokha Village and New Wokha Village as early as possible, while cautioning that the concerned villages would not give cooperation in the future if their appeal is not reciprocated.
