Vanguard, Naga FC to clash in Capt Kenguruse Memorial final

Our Correspondent Kohima | September 19 Defending champions Naga Football Club and Vanguard Football Club will clash in the final of the 3rd Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse Tournament on September 21 at Kohima Local Ground.   A late goal from Rhitso Mero in the dying minutes of the game helped Naga FC beat Naga Terriers 2-1 in the first semi-final here at the Kohima Local Ground.   Naga FC had earlier taken the lead through Khwetelhi Thopi in the 31st minute before T. Khampai equalised for Naga Terriers in the 73rd minute. With the match seemingly headed for a tie-breaker, Rhitso stepped up to score in the added time of the second half to help the two-time champions’ book their third consecutive entry into the final of the tournament. Naga FC also won the inaugural edition of the tournament.   In the second semi-final, braces from Yhunshalo and Chaba helped Vanguard FC Tseminyu beat Green Club FC Zunheboto 5-2.   Vanguard scored first through Awangbou in the 22nd minute before Yhunshalo and Chaba scored in the 39th and 58th minutes respectively. Green Club then pulled two goals back through Kimiyeto in the 69th and 79th minutes to bring some semblance of competition.   But, the respite only lasted four minutes as Chaba got his second and Yhunshalo also completed his brace in added time to complete the rout.
