Venuzo Dawhuo champ of King of the Ring Series 2017

Venuzo Dawhuo of Thenyizu village from Phek district was crowned champion of the King of the Ring Series 2017 at the 6th Naga Wrestlemania. The championship is part of the Combat Sports Festival organised by 3E (Elite Entertainment Enterprise) Nagaland in Kohima.  

20-year old Dawhuo defeated 26-year old Kekhriezo Nagi at the final bout of the series to win a cash prize of Rs. 1.2 lakh alongwith the championship belt.  

On his way to the final bout, Dawhuo beat Pfusato Tetseo in the quarter finals and Seyiesalie Nakhro in the semis.  

Kekhriezo Nagi, hailing from Sechii Zubza, Kohima defeated Mhiesilietuo Kuotsu of Khonoma village in the quarter finals and Vekutho Soho in the semi-finals. Nagi won a Rs. 60,000 cash prize.  

The two losing semi finalists - Vekutho Soho of Phek village and Seyiesalie Nakhro of Piphema village, Kohima pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 each.  

14-year Shezove Therie of Pholami village was crowned champion in the junior wrestling championship. Therie won a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 along with the championship belt. He defeated Kusayi Tsutso of Khomi village, Phek. Tsutso won Rs. 5000.  

The two losing semi finalists Vebo Nienu, of Phek village and Anguto Peseyie of Jotsoma village, Kohima were awarded Rs. 2000 each.  

Former MLA Khriehu Liezietsu gave away prizes.
