Venuzo Dawhuo & Visedelhuo Chüsi crowned indigenous wrestling champs

Senapati, September 28 (MExN): 22 year old Venuzo Dawhuo from Chakhesang Thenyizumi Village, under Phek District, standing tall of 5’10 ft and weighing 92 Kgs, was today crowned as the champion of the State Level Indigenous Open Wrestling Competition, 2018 held here at Tahamzam, Mini Stadium, Senapati.  

He defeated Vechita Khesoh and walked away with a prize of Rs 1,00,000.  

Vechita Khesoh, Nlumrai Hegwang and Seketuokho Nipu secured second, third and fourth positions, winning Rs 70,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively along with citations. The four losing quarter finalists Rukulhü Phesao, L Moses, L Thekho and Th. Süpuni Shah also received a sum of Rs 5,000 each along with citations.  

Meanwhile, 22 year old Visedelhuo Chüsi of 22 years was declared as the champion of the under 65 Kg below category and walked away with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 along with citations.  

SB Reipou, Sapunu Thaovei and Hrangaolu secured second, third and fourth position and pocketed a sums of Rs 70,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively along with citations, while the four losing quarter finalists Külüvezo Soho, SK Lalousü, Avepaodu and Shoylavei were also awarded a consolation prize of Rs 5,000 each along with citations.  

Altogether, 106 wrestlers from Manipur and Nagaland including both heavy weights and light weights took part in the championship.  

Y. Joykumar Singh, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur graced the valedictory function as the Chief Guest and gave away the prizes to the winners.
