Kohima, January 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Home Department today issued a directive to notify that in view of the forthcoming General Elections to the Legislative Assembly in the State of Nagaland and in pursuance of the directives of the Election Commission of India, the Government of Nagaland has initiated a verification drive for all Arms Licences issued by the State Government.
The office notice issued by Abhishek Singh, IAS Home Commissioner to the Government of Nagaland stated that all arms licence holders in possession of valid arms licence(s) issued by the State Government of Nagaland, various Deputy Commissioners, Commissioner of Police either residing in Nagaland or in other States and Union Territories in India are directed to produce their arms licences and all relevant documents to the nearest Police Station against the address mentioned in the licences issued.
Further, Licensing Authorities are to ensure that all arms are deposited as per the Election Commission’s guidelines The deadline for submission and compliance is January 20, 2018.
“Non-compliance to this directive 0211 lead to cancellation of the licences as per relevant section of Law,” the note added.
