Vigilance team tours Tuensang

Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): Members of the State-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee nominated by the Ministry of Rural Development, New Delhi for the state of Nagaland concluded the first leg of their state-wide tour after a brief stopover at Zunheboto town.
After visiting Kohima, Phek and Kiphire districts, the team toured parts of Tuensang district accompanied by HoDs and officials of PWD, PHED, Land Resources, Social Welfare and Rural Development. The team visited several on-going and completed project sites which were sponsored by the Central government and also had interactions and public meetings with Village Council and VDB members.
Apart from enlightening the villagers about the all the programmes and schemes sanctioned by the Ministry of Rural Development for the improvement of rural livelihood like the Annapurna Rice scheme for BPL families distributed through the Department of Food and Civil Supplies and the varied Pension benefits made available through the department of Social Welfare, the team members also checked financial transaction and work progress records maintained at the grass-root levels and observed the need for improvement in that area as well as the quality of works.
The team made a brief stop at Zunheboto town and had an interaction session with officials of the Zunheboto Region Students’ Union and YNet Zunheboto Unit members.
The team is embarking upon this state-wide tour to get a feel of the ground realities concerning the implementation of the various rural development programmes being implemented in the state, so as to be ready to update the Central Government if and when the need arises. The team will resume the tour after the end of the festive season. The team consists of Ex-MLA, Medokul Sophie, Richard Humtsoe, Imtirenba Changkiri and Hayithung Bill Lotha.
