Villages electrified in Pungro area under Saubhagya Scheme

Pungro, June 17 (MExN): In yet another development in the area, 13 villages in and around Saramati peak, Pungro Electrical sub-division of Kiphire district have been electrified under Saubhagya Scheme 2018-19 with the installation of 25 KVA, 11/0.4 KV substation.  

The 13 villages including Khonsa Town EAC Hq 1&2 colony, Bedang village, Thruntsuvong village, Tsutovong, Thulun village, Throngkim village, Limtsang village, Richame village, Latsu village, Kiusisu village, Ditenvong village, Vitsuvong village, Khonsa town and Jenty village have been electrified “for the first time with all required electrical infrastructures.”


A press release received here stated that speaking at the dedication programme in all the 13 villages, SDO (Elect) Pungro, Er N Rumphio Lotha expressed happiness that the residents could now access electricity facilities. He appealed to the villagers to co-operate with the department in all necessary activities for smooth functioning of the system and encouraged the gathering to extend their hands for any need that may arise from department, especially for clearance of jungles, maintenance of line and power substation enclosure of proper use of electricity and regular payment of bill.

Lotha introduced the prevailing system of billing on communitised and formed the SPM system and VEMB members in all the 13 villages.  He also issued the Below Poverty Line (BPL) electrical materials to all the beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the 13 village chairman and GBs, on behalf of the public expressed gratitude to the Power Department officials, Engineer-in-chief, Chief Engineer D&R and EE (E) Kiphire division for their initiative and the execution of the power line in such a remotes area and assured all the cooperation with the department in days to come.
