Viswema Students Union seize expired goods

Kohima, July 10 (MExN): As part of its social responsibility, the executives of Viswema Students Union (VSU) on July 9 conducted a surprise checking on all the shops within its jurisdiction.

The Union checked the shops for selling of expired consumable and cosmetic goods, manipulation of MRP rates and also to check sell of tobacco products which were earlier banned by the Union. The VSU executives also checked the vegetable and fast food vendors operating at Monday Bazaar in NH 29 for hygiene, price and use of appropriate weighing scales.

During the checking, the VSU executives seized a pile of expired goods from the shops which were later burnt to dispose off.

Meanwhile, the Union in a press release has cautioned and advised the shopkeepers to be more vigilant while buying goods from wholesalers and always check the expiry dates. They also advised the operating hotels and selling eatable items to maintain a clean surrounding and give proper hygienic food to the consumers.
