VWO conference held

Dimapur, August 15 (MExN): The Viswema Women Organisation(VWO) held its 3rd General Conference on August 13.
The speaker for the day was Bano John. She dwelt on two main points - role of women in the family and role of women in the society. The good environment of the family depends on the women, was what she stressed on.
She further said that whether a mother likes it or not, if it is for the good of the family, then a mother has to submit to that.
New shawl for men introduced, booklet released
A press note appended by general secretary of VWO Prichole Pusa stated that the occasion was also marked by the release of men’s new shawl called “Viswe Khwedi” patented by Neithono Sothu and Keholesule Kweho. It also saw the release of a booklet called “Viswemi Kinyi” which has the description of the new shawl and other original shawls and ornaments of women of the village.
While unveiling the booklet and the shawl the Homesul Kin, Chairman, Viswema Village Council dwelt upon the need to have such new creations and also the need to preserve our cultural identities. He went on to compare the creation of the new men’s shawl with that of getting a PhD degree, and congratulated them on their feat.
A new team of office bearers were inducted for the next three years - 2011-14 with Vikehele Chaya as president. The meeting was chaired by Tosolenu Naleo , cultural song was presented by Kirha Women Organisation and the vote of thanks was proposed by Kerile Kikhi, President, VWO, the note said.
