‘We are born free and equal’

Diezephe, June 22 (MExN): Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) organized a legal awareness programme in collaboration with Sisterhood Network at Diezephe village on June 22.  

Summing up the programme, Neiko Kanuo, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman DDLSA highlighted about the legal aid services, and those who are entitled to get free legal aid. He also explained on how to lodge FIR when you are in danger. “We are born free and all are equal, we have right to live, law protect us which is written in our Indian constitution,” he said.  

The Chairman also briefly emphasized on domestic violence and to know the rights and protection of women. Speaking on Protection of women from Domestic violence, Ms. Visheli stressed on women rights and also highlighted the definition of violence such as physical, emotional, economic and sexual abuse. She also explained on how to file maintenance U/s 125 CrPC.  

Ms. Tonika, Panel Lawyer DDLSA spoke on objectives of legal services, Mr. T. Temjensoba, Panel Lawyer DDLSA spoke on RTI, how and where to file RTI. Ms. Nishela, Panel Lawyer DDLSA spoke Consumer rights and how to file a consumer case.  

DDLSA & Sisterhood Network advocates justice for all

Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) in collaboration with Sisterhood Network conducted legal awareness on various topics at Community Hall, Aoyimti Village on June 21.  

Speaking on 'objective of legal aid services', Rokovitsu Khate, Panel Lawyer DDLSA appraised that the objectives of legal aid services to give justice to one and all by providing free legal services to the weaker sections of the society. He also briefly highlighted on Lok Adalat and the person entitled to get free legal aid.  

Speaking on domestic violence, Moatila, Panel Lawyer DDLSA asserted that abusing of women economically, virtually, emotionally comes under domestic violence. She pointed out that physical abuse and virtual abusive also amount to same offence. Moatila further said women should know their rights and their protection under the provisions of law. On Right to Information, Yambemo Ngullie, Panel Lawyer DDLSA explained on how to file RTI, the stipulated period of filing and receiving the reply of RTI and the hierarchical order to file an RTI for any information in governmental institutions. Sangto Longchar, Panel Lawyer DDLSA highlighted on Consumers Rights Summing up the programme, Ajongba Imchen, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary DDLSA explained on how legal aid could be availed by common people. He also highlighted on the main purpose of organizing legal awareness seminar which is our constitutional rights.  

Ajongba Imchen further stressed on fundamental rights and duties of the citizens, Village council members rights and duties, Child trafficking and Women's rights.  

The programme was chaired by Nancy, Sponsorship, Coordinator Sisterhood Network, while invocation by Pur Lemtur, Associate Pastor, Youth.
