Winter Trophy Challenge in Kiphire town commences

All together nine teams are taking part in the first Winter Challenge Trophy organised by the Kiphire Town Students Union under the theme ‘Goal for unity’ which started on December 13 with Kyupise S Sangtam, PRO to Minister Soil and Water Conservation, Geology and Mining as chief patron.


Addressing the gathering, the chief patron asked the youngsters to take sports as profession and make a livelihood out of it. He said, “Through sports we should shed away ‘ISM’ and look forward for unity as family.”


Advising the youths the patron also said time has come for us to think forward to contribute to the society and this can be possible only if we have positive attitude and sports is one of the platforms where we create positive attitude by meeting new friends.


Sharing concern of the socio economic condition of the district, the chief patron also said that together we have to contribute to the society in all possibility was.


Later he declared the tournament open.


Dr Dehni Thonger who spoke on behalf of DAPCU shared that HIV prevalent in the district is high but can be contained if community comes together and appealed to the gathering to join hands to contain this problem.


Khumchoba president KTSU welcomed the gathering and Lemzila presented a special song.


Beside individual price, certificate and trophy the winner will walk away with a cash of 30,000 INR. The trophy will culminate on December 21.
