Wokha, August 21 (MExN): Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) unanimously decided to adopt four villages one from each assembly constituency under Wokha district for a period of two years.

 

Village adoption policy 

Apprising the board members about the village adoption policy, Chairman DPDB, Wokha and Advisor Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, said the adoption process will be for a specific period and will be carried out on a mission mode to address the problems and issues faced by the villagers. After the completion of the specified period remaining villages will be adopted on phase manner, while reviewing the last meeting minutes, stated a DIPR report. 


The Chairman while requesting the department to extend co-operation for the successful implementation of the policy, he urged every department to come out with concrete ideas and plans to bring about change and development at the targeted villages and the same can be replicated in other villages as well.

 

Committee constituted 

In this regard a committee was constituted headed by ADC (HQ) and the following departments namely DWO (Welfare), DFO (Forest), DHO (Horti), DRDA, Land Resources, R&B, DEO (Education, Water Resources, CMO, CVO and DAO (Agri) were selected as members. The chairman directed the committee to have a meeting at the earliest to work out modalities, selection of villages and as to how adoption plan is to be carried out and requested the committee to present the report in the next Planning board meeting.

 

LADP 2019-20 schemes 


The board approved in principle of LADP 2019-20 schemes. Registration of Hope Spring Society was also approved by the board. In regard to opening of weekly bazaar by Renchen Welfare Society, Wokha the Chairman suggested the society to coordinate with the ADC (HQ) & Administrator Wokha Town Council to look into the matter for follow up action. 

 

New construction of Doyang Bridge 

On the agenda of strengthening and for the new construction of Doyang bridge towards Wokha-Merapani road the board decided that as the road was officially handed over by the State Government to the National Highway & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) on July 13, 2017 the board urged the NHIDCL to take up the case on priority basis and to expedite the work at the earliest since the said road is economy lifeline of Wokha and its neighboring district. 


The board also approved to invite one of the renowned motivational speakers, Rev. Imsong during September 2019 DPDB meeting to have interaction with the board members. As per the guideline of the State Planning Board manual where it is mentioned that AHOD/HOD should at least attend two DPDB meeting in all the district in the current year, in this regard, the Board decided to invite Director of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry and Registrar ARCS during September 2019 DPDB meeting to highlights the district officials about their departmental activities.


To motivate various government establishments and its employees to bring positive changes and to encourage the employees to work with enthusiasm, the board decided to inspect selected establishments and offices after every Planning Board meeting. For this the DPDB Chairman, Yanthan accompanied by Head of Offices in the district visited District Hospital, GHSS and district Library and had interaction with the Head of the Department and faculty members, the Chairman also handed over water dispenser along with two jars of water in order to discourage the use of one time use plastic bottles. 


Department of Sericulture, Industries and IFAD Funded/Focus Project presented their departmental programmes, policies and activities.
