Wokha LSA organises essay competition

Wokha, August 8 (MExN): The Wokha District Legal Service Authority organised an essay competition at Bailey Baptist College on August 2 with 35 students participating in the competition.  

Superintendent of Observation Home Wokha, Wobenthung J. Patton, who was the resource person, spoke on the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015. With the amendment made to the JJ Act, 2015, he stated, juveniles aged between 16 to 18 years committing heinous crimes would be treated as adults. He stressed on the need to spread awareness to the common people through students so that this message is reached to the community.  

Panel Lawyer David Ezung, another resource person, spoke on the free legal services being provided to the poor people through DLSA and asked them to be aware of various schemes in order to utilise for the betterment of their lives.  

In the essay competition, the first prize was bagged by Chonchithung Y. Emungrui, while Lichumo Kikon and Zuchamo Ngullie claimed second and third prizes respectively. The winners were awarded with cash prize and certificates.
