Workshop deliberates on NAAC related issues and challenges

Mokokchung, August 20 (MExN): One day workshop on National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) related issues and challenges held at Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung on August 20.


Delivering the keynote address during the inaugural session, a DIPR report stated that Rokono Keyho, Jt. Director, Higher Education Kohima pointed out that the biggest challenges for Higher Education is to ensure quality education, as such, the UGC and HRD, Government of India has made it mandatory for all Higher Educational institutions to be NAAC assessed and Accredited.


In the same note, she also mentioned that through such assessment one become aware of own strengths and weakness, finding new direction and identity to endeavor ahead. In this regard, she added that The Department has put up a State Level Quality Assurance Cell (SLQAC) to facilitate Colleges for Accreditation, An Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) Cell comprising of a committee has also been set up to assist colleges to prepare for the process, . She also emphasized on the for more colleges to go for NAAC as out of 65 Colleges in Nagaland only 25 Colleges are NAAC Accredited.


Earlier in the session, welcome address was delivered by T Along Tzudir, Principal, Fazl Ali College while vote of thanks was shared by Dr. Lanurenla, IQAC Coordinator, FAC. Dr. Watimongla Pongener, HoD, Department of English, FAC chaired the session. 


During the Workshop session, Dr. Watijungshi, Former Additional Director, Higher Education took up the topic on Mentoring of Colleges for NAAC Assessment. The moderator was Dr. I, Wati Imchen, HoD, Department of History. Experiences in NAAC Assessment and Accreditation topic were covered by Dr. Vizovol Mekro, Principal Phek Government College. The moderator was Dr. Imtiwati Jamir, HoD, Department of Physics.
The workshop was attended by Principals and lecturers from nine colleges.
