Workshop to equip teachers conclude

Dimapur, October 26 (MExN): A four day workshop on ‘equipping teachers for implementation of curriculum in peace studies’ was concluded on October 26 at SM College, Dimapur.  

A total of 20 faculty members from seven educational institutions in Nagaland participated in this workshop, informed a press note received here. Hosted by the Indigenous Research Centre of SM College, this programme was given by the Center for Peace Studies, Madras Christian College, Chennai, and sponsored by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia.  

The workshop aimed at imparting training for teachers from both secular and theological disciplines in contexts where severe conflicts have impacted life, and peace-building is an uphill task. The workshop was designed to make a difference to the social reality of conflict situations by preparing academic institutions and faculty members to train the students to be peace makers.  

The resource persons for the workshop were Dr. Alexander Jesudasan, Principal, Rev. Dr. John Prasad, Dr. R. Belinda, Rev. Joshua Jayaseelan and Dr. Aküm Longchari. The valedictory address was given by Dr. Lanusangla Tzudir, Chief Editor, Heritage Publishing House.
