Workshop on Gender-Responsive Budgeting conducted

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 17 (MExN): The first State Nodal Officers’ orientation workshop on Gender-Responsive Budgeting (GRB) was conducted on November 15 at Hotel Vivor, Kohima.  

The programme was jointly organised by Government of Nagaland and UN Women, New Delhi. It was facilitated by Dr. Sanghamitra Dhar, Expert to Mission, Gender-Responsive Budgeting, UN Women, New Delhi. Twenty -four departments participated in the first phase of orientation workshop on Gender-Responsive Budgeting (GRB).  

A press release maintained that the Government of Nagaland is committed to address the Gender-Responsive Budgeting mandate of the union government and is party to the GRB pledge wherein their policies need to be gender equal and encourage pro-women policies.  

The team of Gender Nodal Officers would aid in designing and formulation of gender-sensitive policies /schemes/ budgets for their respective Departments. Besides, a Gender-Responsive Budgeting Cell has been constituted under the Planning and Coordination Department for the purpose.
