Mokokchung, December 3 (MExN): A one-day District level workshop on Measles elimination and Rubella control was held at the Chief Medical Office Conference Hall Mokokchung on November 28.

 

A report from DPMU, CMO Office stated that the workshop started with welcome note and objectives by Dr Kibangkumba Deputy CMO where he said that Mokokchung District MRVC Campaign was successfully completed last year with coverage of 97.76% and the WHO goal for elimination was targeted by 2020. Due to poor achievement in few countries this has been prolonged to 2023, he informed, while stating that to achieve this, regular trainings and surveillance was necessary.

 

Resource person of the training, Dr Sheila Longkumer, SMO World Health Organization (WHO) started the session with an overview on MR campaign, its objectives, Micro plannings etc.

 

She also  highlighted about the global and national update and way forward Measles elimination and  Rubella control, basic of AFP-MR surveillance, revised outbreak response protocol, District weekly review meeting, Routine Immunization(RI), strengthening for MR elimination including District Task Force/Review meetings. The workshop was attended by SMOs, MOs. DCM, ASHA Co-ordinators and other health workers.
