World Music Day in Wokha, Kohima

Wokha, June 19 (MExN): Wokha district is all set to celebrate the World Music Day on June 21 with the rest of the world. The celebration will be held at the community hall of Orchid Hill colony, Wokha Town at 6:00 pm.  

Prominent bands like De Band, Solid Rox, and new entrants The Dream Catcher and the Rising with senior musicians Dr. Zuben Kikon and Yanren Tungoe will perform live on stage. Also joining the array of bands will be Yonny and the Project. “Yonny is an upcoming young live sound technician whose voice is as strong to mimic the numbers of world renowned gospel bands,” stated a release issued by Convener Penthungo Ngullie and Co-convener Thungdemo Kyong of Wokha District World Music Day. The release further informed that The Dream Catcher released its debut recording (audio) Radio Active on Indihut at the beginning of this month.   It was also mentioned that the idea to celebrate the day took shape when many bands, senior musicians and music lovers gathered, irrespective of tribes, and decided to self sponsor the expenses of the programme.   Meanwhile, in Kohima, DKs Entertainment Group will organize the World Music Day celebration on June 21 at Baptist College basketball court, Mission Compound, Kohima from 4:00 pm onwards. The event, supported by Music Task Force and Orient Enterprises, will be celebrated under the theme “Tapping the untapped talents” by giving a platform to the many under privileged upcoming artists, informed a press release issued by DKs Entertainment Group’s programme conductor, Khrievotuo Sekhose. Legendary Naga musician Methaneilie Jutakhrie will be the chief guest. MTV Indian Desi Rock Beat winner Divine Connection will also perform at the event. Entry to the event will be free.
