Nagaland State Chief Minister, TR Zeliang today said that an inquiry commission has been set up in connection with MKR Pillai case.

Zeliang said this on the sideline of the swearing in ceremony of the Advisors and Parliamentary Secretaries here today.

On being asked about the termination order of Pillai’s service, Zeliang said: “I am yet to see the file.” Till the investigation is completed we cannot allow him to continue, Zeliang said. “But let me see the file,” he added.

Regarding Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu and other NPF MLAs moving to court against the 37 NPF legislators including the NLA speaker, the CM said this was a move aimed at stopping the expansion of his ministry. Informing that the next hearing is on Monday, the CM expressed hope that the petition would be dismissed as “there is no merit.”

“They are challenging the authority of the Speaker, challenging the authority of the government,” he said adding they want to stay the process of the formation of the government.

On expulsion and suspension of most of the NPF MLAs, Zeliang said that yesterday 36 NPF members had a meeting and passed a resolution that the action taken by the NPF President was not according to the constitution of the NPF.

He said none of the 10 suspended members and 20 expelled members have received any notice. The CM explained that according to the NPF constitution, warning or a kind of notice should be given and after that if the reply is not satisfactory to the Disciplinary Action Committee, then the committee will have to recommend to the Party President for action to be taken. But such process was not carried out, he said.

The CM recalled that they were suspended directly in the first place and after a few days the suspension order was revoked, then suspended again, while some were expelled.

Zeliang reiterated the call for the party president to step down from his post and said that the latter should act as per the party’s constitution.
